Technical situation in the modern world

It is well known fact, that humanist professions are very lucrative today. Since school a lot of young people suppose this profession to be very promising. With such an impression they are educated in their families, go to high school, to a institute and finally they begin bringing up their own children that way. Deadlock.
Why is it so? What do make people think that engineering sciences have lost their importance?
There are several causes.
firstly present technology achieved such a high extent of progress that society is capable of operating it without having special engineering knowledge. thereby there is no necessity for further dissemination of engineering skill. Humanits use starts dominating in all spheres of life.
Secondly it is an actual fact that we exist in the consumer society. People in it don’t want to work with their hands. They like to describe the world around and consume products, but not to make something by themselves. Of course this fact does not influence positively on spreading of engineering knowledge. People are simply not concerned with it.
In the third place is the fact that the resource base has achieved such a level of devastation that we often have no place for work after studying the theory.
Finally a very major thing is the policy of the state. What professions does it popularize as asked-for today? We can easily learn it by analyzing our mass-media. The internet, the television, the radio, the press – what ways of life do they popularize today? It is easy to prove that they are full of humanist images. Mass-media present us pleasant, nice life in which there is no place for hard-work, but there are a lot of talks, beautiful scenes and fantasies.
What do we have as a after all?
Lack of experienced workers in the engineering sphere. There are a lot of philosophers, lawyers, artists, singers, politicians, professors but a few people, able to operate for example a heavy-duty jointer planer. This will cause a perilous situation when we will be lacking very simple things which are very important for our comfortable way of living.
Besides that our education system is totally ruined. There is no technical literature of high quality – it is either sold or lost. There is no experienced lecturers able to educate adequate personnel working in non-humanist spheres.
Such is the picture. Sad, isn’t it?
Then, there is an adequate question: what should our country do in order to correct the state? I think that there are several actions to be taken. First of all our state should change its attitude towards technical professions and specialities and theirs perspectives. education system should apply efforts in order to promote engineering professions in mass-media.
And of course, the best way to save technological professions is to assign enough means both for the payment for the people who work in this sphere and to the creating an adequate resource base.
